Weekend in Gold Country

The Alison Krauss/Willie Nelson concert at Ironstone Winery was the reason to explore the Sonora/Murphys/Copperopolis/Angels Camp area with Zach and Monica. I stopped at Columbia State Park which is a re-claimed period town that was hosting a murder mystery that Saturday. People in costume were obvouse photo subjects. I also stopped by Quyle Kilns and got a tour of the facility by proprietor Pamela. The filter clay press is unique in this country. Calaveras County is Mark Twain country; they take their frog jumping contests very seriously there as the sidewalk hall of fame confirms. Interestingly, the smoke from the wildfire that closed Yosemite National Park turned the full moon red.
