Chicago Institute of Art - The City Lost and Found 1960-1980

A second weekend in a row for me in downtown Chicago. The moderate weather and the holiday spirit makes the trip from Holland to Chicago an easy 'go'. I was particularly interested in the photography focused on three major US cities at the Art Institute. One of the 1960's Chicago shots is iconic.

The Exhibit: The City Lost and Found: Capturing New York, Chicago and Los Angeles is the first exhibition to explore this seminal period through the emergence of new photographic and cinematic practices that reached from the art world to the pages of Life magazine.

The exhibit also included in the Los Angeles section the Garry Winogrand photo that I included in my 24Sep2014 blog as my sister's favorite from a Met show of his work. I love connections like this that emerge as I travel near and far.
