Day Trip Through Parkfield-Coalinga Pass
I had the Parkfield-Coalinga Road on my mind and decided the 'back road day trip' timing was good this last Saturday. I started with a stop in Parkfield with some drone shots of the San Andreas fault line. The bridge spans the fault leading from the North American Plate to the Pacific Plate. I then proceeded up the valley past the V6 Ranch and over the top of the ridge following the Parkfield-Coalinga Road to its intersection with CA 198 West. At the CA 25 intersection just short of King City, I headed north past the Pinnacles National Park. Hollister is where I hopped onto US 101 to travel into San Francisco for the evening. Beautiful land and very few cars on the roads before US 101. Definitely, Blue Highways.
