Central Valley on Winter's Day
I had a roundtirp to Bakersfield on 13Feb. I made a loop, of course, with CA 46 in the morning and CA 58 on the way home.
The recent rains created green foothills.

This trip more than ever before, the scale of the Central Valley stuck with me. I drove for over twenty minutes through almond orchards, row after row, mile after mile. I enjoy almonds.

This was across the street from the State Preserve for Tule Elk. Tough landscape.

Near Taft, CA 33.

California Valley, Solar Farm at north end of the Carizzo Plains. San Andreas fault line is very visible in this area.
